Oakland: One killed, one injured in separate shootings OAKLAND — One person was fatally shot and another was injured in separate shootings Sunday near the city’s Lake Merritt and in a west Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.Shortly after 6 p.m., police responded to calls reporting a possible shooting in the 500 block of Bellevue Avenue near the lake.When officers arrived, they found evidence of an apparent shooting but no sign of an injured person or damaged building or vehicle.Soon after, officers learned a person suffering from a gunshot wound managed to get a ride to a hospital for treatment. That victim was later listed in stable condition, police said.Shortly before 7:20 p.m., police learned of a possible injury shooting near 32nd Street and San Pablo Avenue, and officers arrived to find a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.Despite emergency life-saving care provided by officers, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Concord: CHP officer injured, driver arrested after Hwy. 242 collision CONCORD — A California Highway Patrol officer was hospitalized after a vehicle struck her during a weekend enforcement stop on a busy highway, authorities said.In a statement posted Sunday to social media, the CHP said the officer had stopped a Chevrolet on the right shoulder of southbound Highway 242 lanes just south of Highway 4, and was standing near the Chevrolet at 8:22 p.m. Saturday.Moments later, a Mercedes traveling southbound veered off the road and into the Chevrolet, causing it to hit the officer.
