ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Former New York State Inspector General Letizia Tagliafierro has passed away after a battle with cancer. She was 50. The Saugerties native and SUNY Albany graduate served as a longtime official of the Andrew Cuomo administration, acting as Inspector General from January 2019 until she resigned in September 2021. Throughout her career, Tagliafierro worked as a key member of multiple government bodies, including the NYS Legislature, as a prosecutor for the Erie County District Attorney's Office in Buffalo, and several vital roles aross the State Government. FULTON COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office held their annual water safety training with dozens of first responders on The Great Sacandaga Lake. The training simulates boat and jet ski accidents and other rescues. “When we all come together for an instant, everybody knows everybody, everybody knows what resources are available and who they can count on for different aspects of the job," Steven SantaMaria, Director of Emergency Management, said. CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (News10)-Dennis Drue, the drunk and drugged driver who caused the fatal crash that killed Shenendehowa students Christopher Stewart and Deanna Rivers and seriously injured their close friends Bailey Wind and Matt Hardy is being released today.News10's Anya Tucker spoke with people close to the matter, who say Drue was granted parole and will be living with a family member in the Capital Region, while under the supervision of the Department of Parole. News10 has confirmed his release date as being May 25th, 2023 through state documents. Drue had already been denied parole 3 previous times. ST. LOUIS - A years-long legal battle over the ownership of the Fox Theatre has been resolved. Two parties, Fox Associates LLC and Foxland Inc., have agreed to a settlement over the St. Louis landmark. The parties call it a "mutually satisfactory settlement." The settlement comes as a lease on the Fox Theatre was pushing 100 years and set to expire in 2025. Under the settlement, Fox Associates will purchase Foxland’s interest in the land underlying the theatre, which would consolidate ownership to one party. CLINTON COUNTY, Ill. - Traffic is stalled in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 in the Metro East after a crash Thursday morning. First responders found a semi pulled over on the side of the highway. They shut down the highway to help get the victim onboard a medical helicopter. IDOT says traffic is blocked at milepost 32 on I-64 between New Baden and Albers. Traffic is backed up several miles in the eastbound direction. Illinois State Police say that they were called to the scene for a report of an injured person. A medical helicopter took the person to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
