Another five rockets struck Israeli territory and the rest of the strikes were being investigated, security forces added. The army’s response would come after “a situational assessment” and meeting by Israel’s Security Cabinet later Thursday, it said. The unusually large salvo of rockets raised fears of a wider conflagration, as Israel’s bitter enemy, the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, holds sway over much of southern Lebanon. The Warriors’ playoff seeding carousel is a mess. Let’s sort it out Credit to the Warriors. While this season has proven to be quite the challenge, they have made it easy for themselves and us ahead of the final two games of the regular season. If they win Friday in Sacramento and Sunday in Portland, the Dubs will qualify for the real playoffs and avoid the play-in tournament.Still, the situation is messy with the Dubs vying with four other teams for two “true” playoff spots. Let’s sort it all out:Do the Warriors have to win both remaining games to be a top-six seed?In a word: No.But two wins put the Warriors on the most direct path.Following the Clippers’ win over the Lakers and a Pelicans win Wednesday, the Warriors have a 50-50 shot at making the real playoffs (top-six seeds), per PlayoffStatus.com.That qualification could be as either the fifth or sixth seed. And if the Warriors win only one of the final two games, their odds of avoiding the play-in tournament improve to around 60 percent. In that case, Golden State will al...
